In Chizhu Town, Lingnan, the big bombastic dragon boat race is about to begin. Hakka and her sister Amei are on their way to watch Uncle Aman's race when they see a racketeer selling egret eggs illegally. Mother Egret begs for Hakka to help her. Hakka is wearing a Hakka hat, and its magic is awakened by Mother Egret's cries. During the rescue, they meet a large group of friends including elks, monkeys, and mudskippers. They also accidentally discover thousand-year-old secrets related to both the forest animals and their ancestors. After that, Hakka uses the magic Hakka hat to fight against the racketeer and the lackeys under his control such as Hex the Owl and Weasel, and she becomes the guardian of all rare forest animals. The children grow up comfortably under the tender care of their grandma, parents, uncle and elders. The vibrant life of the Hakka and their forest adventures make for a childhood full of affection and heroism, allowing them to become better people from the inside out. Focusing on natural cognition, family care, looking out for one another, and personal growth, the story paints a vivid and beautiful picture of eastern pastoral life for children.
