From an entirely new perspective, Nanjing Broadcasting System has launched a major cultural documentary, "The Splendor of the Yangtze River". The series explores themes and draws inspiration, and gains strength from the treasure trove of Chinese traditional culture, focusing on the culture of the Yangtze River. For the first time, it comprehensively summarizes the characteristics of Yangtze River culture across the Nanjing area, preserves the cultural memory, and tells vivid stories through specific cultural relics. Through a review of current development, it highlights contemporary issues of the Yangtze's conservation and prospects, and vividly showcases Nanjing’s implementation of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization. The documentary emphasizes the interplay between natural beauty and culture, and between history and the modern times, effectively conveying the historical facts and spirits of Yangtze River culture and inspiring a hopeful vision for the future of the Yangtze River. To better preserve the cultural memory of the Yangtze River, the creative team consulted top domestic and international experts in hydrology, geography, climate, archaeology, and history to ensure rigorous accuracy. The narrative style uses specific cultural relics to bring history to life and express it more vividly. In post-production, it strives to present the most beautiful and authentic splendor of the great river, preserving genuine and precious visual materials for contemporary Nanjing and China. “The Splendor of the Yangtze River" consists of 12 episodes, each about 30 minutes long, and focuses on major themes such as civilization, waterway network, urban development, cultural significance, the pioneering role of modernization, environmental protection, and opening up. It portrays the characteristics of Yangtze River culture, from a close relationship with the city to its long history, diversity and harmony.
