Jiang is nothing like a man that An will fall in love with. However, with his sincerity, wittiness and persistence, Jiang gradually wins over An and her family. They get married but their marital life is full of challenges due to big differences in their family and education background. The couple overcome extreme hardship under adverse living conditions through the years and raise five children together.
