The 4th ASEAN-China Audio Video Communication Week is scheduled to take place in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, opening on Sept 6.

This year's event is held by the National Radio and Television Administration, the Cambodian Ministry of Information, and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

It focuses on pressing issues spanning the construction of the Belt and Road, the implantation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the establishment of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future, as well as the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

A platform for facilitating exchanges and sharing among media platforms in China and ASEAN will be built at the event through activities like the opening ceremony, the ASEAN-China Youth Hosts Camp, as well as the translation and broadcasting of outstanding television programs.

This year's ASEAN-China Youth Hosts Camp had just held the Qinzhou section from July 27 to 31 and attendees of the camp will travel to Nanning, Sichuan's Chengdu, as well as Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

The ASEAN-China Audio Video Communication Week, previously known as ASEAN-China Audio Video Communication Week, was first held in 2019, witnessing the signing of 18 cooperation agreement contracts, as well as attracting 216 domestic and overseas TV channels and online platforms.

Share Audiovisual Development Opportunities and Tell Stories of Interconnectivity and Integration

——Speech at 2022 ASEAN-China TV Week Audiovisual Communication Forum

Ji Zhengju, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Economic Daily (Beijing)

(September 7, 2022)

Good morning! It is a great pleasure to join you in attending the 2022 ASEAN-China Audiovisual Communication Forum. Entrusted by President and Editor-in-Chief Mr. Zheng Qingdong, on behalf of the Economic Daily, I would like to express my congratulations on the holding of the ASEAN-China TV Week and ASEAN-China Audiovisual Communication Forum, and extend warm welcome and gratitude to the guests from various countries participating in the forum in-person and online.

China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has got off to a good start this year, and we have also jointly implemented the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN has entered a new stage and opened a new chapter. On the platform of ASEAN-China TV Week, we will further enhance the friendship between China and ASEAN and promote audiovisual development.

Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted: "To strengthen our international communication capacity, it is important to tell genuine and engaging stories, make our voice heard, and present an accurate, multidimensional and panoramic image of China." By telling the story of China-ASEAN cooperation on interconnectivity and integration, news media plays an important role in connecting China and foreign countries and communicating with the world.

As mainstream media in China, Economic Daily adheres to the strategic positioning of “telling China’s economic stories to the world”, and expands overseas communication channels. Through integrating and optimizing reporting and editing teams both home and abroad, we jointly develop high-quality special programs for overseas audience, with continuous innovation in contents as well as in forms. On each trading day, a program called “Chinese market” reports the development course of China’s leading enterprises and the business situation of transnational enterprises in China. It opens the window for the world to have a glimpse of China’s economy and also promotes Chinese enterprises to go abroad.

Faced with increasingly accelerating digital technology and transformation, especially in the field of online audiovisual technology, the media in China and ASEAN countries are ushered into the times of opportunities. We should make full use of digital technology, so as to implement the technologies such as ultra high definition videos, 5G transmission, and artificial intelligence. We should also accelerate the innovative application of emerging technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, focusing on innovative products including short videos, interaction on social platforms, copyright protection, etc, so as to enhance content creation, sharing and cooperation.

In recent years, Economic Daily actively promotes the integration of the media, builds communication platforms online and gives full play to the communicative advantage of short videos. We combine the reporting with new technologies, patterns and forms, providing high-quality contents to online audiovisual platforms, so as to spread stories of China’s economic development and those of the inter-connectivity between China and ASEAN countries more extensively and in depth.

China and ASEAN countries have enjoyed a long history of friendly relations and close economic exchanges. China has remained the largest trading partner of ASEAN for 13 consecutive years, and ASEAN's status as China's largest trading partner has been further consolidated. ASEAN countries have always paid close attention to China's stories of building a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development. We should continue to tell the story of China-ASEAN development in the fields of economic cooperation, cultural exchanges and people-to-people communication. We will tell stories of China's innovation in the economic, scientific and technological fields, as well as China's economic development prospects. We will focus on finding common ground and empathy between the people of China and ASEAN countries with internationalized languages, and deepen mutual understanding with reliable and objective reports.

We will seize new opportunities and create a new future together. We believe that connection leads to common progress and isolation leads to retreat. We look forward to extensive cooperation between the media of China and ASEAN countries in policy communication, program broadcasting, content production, personnel training, technical exchanges and industrial development. We will pool the forces of the government, society and platform, broaden cooperation channels, enrich cooperation models, and form a joint force in communication.

Let us join hands and give full play to the power of the media to deepen communication and cooperation, promote the connection of people, culture and industry between China and ASEAN countries, and make new contributions to the building of a closer China-ASEAN community of shared future.
