The 2022 China International Children's Film Festival will be held in Beijing in mid to late December 2022. The film exhibition is co-organized by China Children and Youth Film Society, China Children's Center and Film Satellite Channel Program Production Center. With the theme of "Light and Shadow - A Century of Children's Hearts", the film festival consists of the "2022 China International Children's Film Festival Gala", "Three Little" activities, academic forums, film screenings and other related activities. 

As the main event of the festival, the 2022 China International Children's Film Festival Gala will be held on December 26 at the China Children's Center. The theme of the festival will be "Light and Shadow", including four chapters: "Light and Shadow Message", "Light and Shadow Centennial", "Light and Shadow Children's Heart" and "Light and Shadow Sailing", reviewing the glorious history of children's films over the past century, showing the active exploration of children's participation in film and television creation in the new era, and looking forward to the magnificent weather of children's films in the new journey.

This year coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese children's cinema, the organizers have produced a short film to commemorate the 100 years of children's cinema, introducing the history and current situation of Chinese children's cinema and looking forward to the future development of children's cinema. The organizers carefully selected the best children's and youth films from the past two years around the world, and finally selected nine foreign films from Finland, the Netherlands, Iran, Russia, Canada and other countries, as well as seven outstanding domestic films for the children's film section. The domestic film "Goodbye The Groundhog", which just won the Golden Rooster Award for the best children's film, is the opening film of the festival.

As a traditional program of the China International Children's Film Festival, the "Three Little" activities of Little Fan, Little Voiceover and Little Host provide more opportunities for children to experience movies and art. The Little Fan activity allows children to watch outstanding children's films, exchange their feelings and write their afterthoughts, and their choices and evaluations will eventually be gathered for the honor of exhibiting films. The Little Voiceover Activity is to organize and train children to dub international films for the exhibitors, so that children can experience professional film dubbing experience from a young age. Children will be the hosts of the film festival, hosting the meeting between the film's creative team and the audience, so as to cultivate children's comprehensive literacy in the process of interactive communication.

As an important part of the film festival, the Children's Film Academic Forum will discuss important topics in children's film creation, theory, education, industry and other professional fields in depth. This year's forum will be held online on November 30 and December 1, and will include: Children's Film Centennial Forum, Children's Film Education Forum, and Children's Film Theory and Practice. Experts and scholars from all walks of life, film careerists, front-line creators and educators will be here to provide insights into the future of Chinese children's films.

In order to raise the attention of the whole society to children's films and to warm up for the "2022 China International Children's Film Festival", the organizing committee launched the "100 Classics of China's Children's Film Centennial Selection" from October 1 to November 15, and the results of the selection have been announced. In addition, the publication of the Chinese Children's Film Research Series has enriched the theoretical construction of children's films. There is also the online activity of "Light and Shadow Nursery Rhymes" cloud podcast, which contains the names of 234 Chinese children's films in 148 lines of "Light and Shadow Nursery Rhymes", and many children of all ages have participated in the recording, providing diversified support for children's participation in film festivals nationwide.

Facing the complex and severe situation of prevention and control of the epidemic and the rare historical opportunity of children's films in a century, the organizers have made full consideration in terms of participants, event format, event flow, number of scheduled scenes and seating density, and strived to present the best face of the film festival. Perhaps, this year's China International Children's Film Festival is destined to be the most unforgettable one due to its unique way of holding, its once-in-a-century historical significance, and the unchanging spirit of all Chinese children's filmmakers.

In recent years, more Chinese children's films have gone global and have been loved by audiences in various countries. After learning that this year's festival coincided with the centennial of Chinese children's films, children's film counterparts from Germany, Mexico, Canada, India, Korea, Japan and other countries sent congratulatory short videos.
