Call for Entries | Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theatre Directors

"Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theatre Directors (YEP)", co-sponsored by the Guilin Arts Festival Organizing Committee and the Central Academy of Drama, embodies the core concept and conscious pursuit of "internationalization and youthfulness" of the Guilin Arts Festival, and reflects the desire and determination of the Central Academy of Drama for the cultivation of Chinese theater talents. The "Elites Program" will be dedicated to selecting and cultivating young Chinese theater talents with global vision and first-class innovation ability, and providing a platform for young theater artists to cultivate talents and promote their works with a full chain of protection and services.

 

 

 

Candidates

 

Young Chinese theater directors under the age of 40 (including) (i.e. born after January 1, 1983) from all over the world are invited to apply.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

1. Small and medium-sized theatre productions, including the following genres: drama, dance theatre, and children's theatre.

 

2. The number of actors on stage is required to be no more than 7, and the total number of touring actors is required to be no more than 12.

 

3. Priority is given to encouraging original works, and works of adaptation must obtain relevant authorization and indicate the original work.

 

 

 

Submission Materials

 

1. Mandatory content: personal profile, script subplot outline (including plot synopsis), director's elaboration (please use the content template provided on the website for download to fill in).

 

2. Optional content: including but not limited to the complete script, choreography concept, music score, music material, multimedia video, rehearsal video, etc.

▪ The submitted works must be unpublished, uncommercialized and free of legal disputes (including individual original and authorized adaptations); the applicant must ensure that he/she has independent and autonomous copyright over the content of the work created.

 

▪ The call for applications is open to individuals only, not to organizations, and up to one co-creator may be accepted, and the co-creator must also be under 40 years of age. Each applicant may submit a maximum of two works.

 

▪ The works submitted must be of professional artistic standard, adapt to the contemporary aesthetic interest, psychological state and way of thinking, and require distinctive ideas, realistic images and vivid plots to enchant the general audience with beauty.

1. Applicants should log on to the website (www.peiyuanproject.com) to enter the "2023 Global Young Chinese Drama Directors' Program" application channel, follow the webpage guidelines to complete registration, and upload and submit their works and corresponding information.

 

2. Registration will be accepted online only, no offline applications will be accepted.

Follow-up Process

 

After the call for entries, we will conduct preliminary evaluation of the registered works, and select a certain number of works for re-evaluation through on-site defense.

 

The organizing committee will continue to provide incubation funds to help the incubated works to rehearse and improve, and finally accept the whole play through the centralized competition, among which the works with excellent performance will be invited to perform in the second Guilin Arts Festival, and will have the opportunity to continue the operation of the project to help the works to tour at home and abroad.
