The Global Youth Short Film Competition provides film lovers with an opportunity to become directors in the industry. It aims to pool quality resources in the industry and incubate and complete quality films through the young filmmaker selection model. It aims to create an international first-class exhibition, exchange, competition and trading platform to discover talented new filmmakers, reward outstanding directors and creative teams, and invite them to stay in Lotus or Lotus Youth Creative Center, thus promoting the further development of China's film industry.

The Competition consists of four sections: "Global Film Storytelling Competition", "Global Youth Short Film Competition", "Global Youth Mobile Phone Competition" and "Global Youth Film Venture Market". The competition is open to young filmmakers and film lovers from all over the world to collect original film stories, screenplays and short films that meet the requirements.

VI. Activity Process

▪ January 1 - February 28, 2023, call for competition entries.

▪ March 10, 2023, announcement of the list of shortlisted works on the event's official website. 

▪ March 30, 2023, "Nezha Youth Short Film Conference" will be held to exchange with famous film and television experts from Lotus, and to gain more opportunities for cooperation.

▪ On March 31, 2023, the award ceremony of Lotus Global Youth Short Film Competition will be held.

VII. Publicity and Awards

1. Publicity of works

All eligible entries will have the opportunity to be screened on official social media platforms.

To encourage participation and not to conflict with other film festivals, participants can indicate the time period for online screening on the official website, major media and social media platforms, and the organizers can actively cooperate.

2. Rewards for shortlisted works

(1) Award the finalist certificate.

(2) The finalists will be announced on the official website.

3. The competition has five awards according to different categories: Special Jury Award, Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award and Excellence Award.

Special Jury Prize: one, with a prize of HK$30,000.

Gold Award: one, certificate of honor + prize money of HK$10,000 in its entirety.

Silver Award: two, honorary certificate + prize money of HK$5,000 each.

Bronze Award: three, Certificate of Honor.

Merit Award: twenty-five parts, honorary certificate.

The prize money shall be subject to the withholding of the corresponding tax.

VIII. Application method

Contestants can register and submit their works online through the following process.

Participants can visit the official website of the competition: http://www.aollyyouthfilm.com and http://www.wfics.com, fill out the Online Entry Form for the First Global Youth Short Film Competition, read and agree to the Copyright Commitment and Authorization Form for the First Global Youth Short Film Competition Entries, and upload the following entry documents.

(1) The Entry Form for the First Global Youth Short Film Competition Entries signed by the participant.

(2) The "Copyright Pledge and Authorization Letter for the First Global Youth Short Film Competition Entries" signed by the participant.

(3) Scanned copies of valid personal identification documents (in the case of team entries, each team member must provide them).

(4) The original film of the work.

(5) Trailer or film footage.

Once the work is submitted, the registration is considered complete.

IX. Entry requirements

1. The entry is in line with the theme of the competition, with the perspective of a short film, with young creators to explore the future of youth images. The works should have a clear theme, full of emotion, positive connotation, strong influence and high communication value.

2. The original film should be created between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022 and should be within 18 minutes in length.

3. Entry files should be provided in accordance with the following format requirements.

(1) The original film of the entry should contain the complete opening and closing credits, and the closing credits should contain all crew information. The format of the original film is AVI, MOV or MP4 HD data file, the resolution is not less than 1080P, the audio is stereo, there should be Chinese and English subtitles.

(2) Poster should provide JPG image file with DPI not less than 150, horizontal poster resolution not less than 1920×1080, vertical poster resolution not less than 770×1080.

(3) 5 stills, individual or group photos of the participants, in JPG format, with a resolution of not less than 1920×1080, horizontal and vertical.

(4) If there are other documents such as trailers or film footage can be submitted together.

(5) Put the above materials in a folder named by the name of the work in order, and provide a link to the web site for not less than 30 days.

4. Commitment for participation

Entries should have complete rights and no defects or restrictions on rights. In case of copyright infringement and other legal disputes, the participant shall bear all the consequences and legal responsibilities arising therefrom.
