The 7th Pingyao International Film Festival will open on 11th October, 2023 Call for Entry Now

The 7th Pingyao international Film Festival will take place from 0ctober 11th to 0ctober 18th at the Festival Palace in the ancient city of Pingyao, Shanxi. The Festival opens the submission entry officially and the submission deadline is August 12th. Applicants shall access the official website https://www.pyiffestival.com/film to submit online.

 

All the eligible submitted films are qualified to be shortlisted for the four official screening sections, including Crouching Tigers focusing on debut and second/third films oy international new directors, Hidden Dragons on Chinese-language films of new directors’ debut and second /thro works Galas that present important works of the year or awarded films from major film festivals, and Made-in-Shanxi for local or Shanxi-related productions.

 

Selected films in the sections of Crouching Tigers and Hidden Dragons will compete for cash prizes of the Roberto Rossellini Awards and the Feimu Awards, The "Best Film" winner of Feimu wards which dedicates to discover Chinese young film talents will be given a cash prize of RMB ¥1.000.000, and the "Best Director" will receive RM ¥200,000. The Chinese-language films in Hidden Dragons are all presented as a World, International or Asian Premiere.

 

Founded in 2017, Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon international Film Festival (PYIFF is held annually in Pingyao, an ancient city with a history of 280 years, located in Shanxi Province. Focused on new works from young directors, the Festival dedicates itself to promoting and providing a platform for young filmmakers that are creative, imaginative and powerful.

 

 

 

HOW TO SUBMIT


1. Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to PYIFF REGULAT1ONS, TERMS AND CONDI1ONS posted via the Festival website www.pyiffestival.com.


2. Applicant must fill out the selection entry form, exclusively via the Festival website www.pyiffestival.com; pay the admission fee.


3. Submission Deadline: August 12th, 2023


4. Submission Fee: early bird price USD 30 or RMB 200 till June 30th, 2023; standard price USD 60 or RMB 350.


5. Submission Categories and Eligibility: 0nly films that meet the following conditions may be submitted for consideration by the 0fficial Selection.


a) Features / Documentaries with a running time of 70 minutes or longer.


b) All selected films must be available to screen in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format by September 20th 2023. There’s no format exceptions.


c) Any film that has previously participated in film related events or screenings of any form in China will not be accepted; the section of Hidden Dragons would only accept films presented as a World, International or Asian Premiere.


d) Submitted films should not have been shown on the Internet.


e) Priority will be given to films presented as a World, International or Asian Premiere.


f) The Festival will accept films submitted without subtitles if the original language is English or Mandarin: all other original languages and/or Chinese languages of dialects should be submitted with English and/or Chinese subtitles.


g) All films must be submitted as on-line screeners which are acceptable with screen watermarks. It is possible to present a work in progress copy of the film, with the final version for the screenings being the one approved by Chinese administrative authority. The Festival will not review multiple versions of a submitted Film If multiple versions are submitted, the Festival will view only the version that was received first.
