01 Introduction to the Film Festival


The China-EU Youth Film Festival, founded by the China-EU Film Festival, is the only bilateral international youth film festival jointly supported by China and the EU. The festival organizing committee is located in Brussels, the headquarters of the EU, and is a non-profit organization approved by the Belgian government. Since its establishment, the China-EU Youth Film Festival has been held once a year, and has already held nine sessions by 2023. It collects outstanding original film and video works from young people and middle school student in China and 27 EU countries, and conducts selection, exhibition and awards. The award-winning works are screened and exchanged in China and Europe.

 

The tenth China-EU Youth Film Festival will be held in 2024.

02 Review and Prospect

 

With a sincere heart, we fulfill our promise of ten years Ten years is a long run of youth. With the name of "China-EU Youth Film Festival", we have created a white canvas for countless young hearts, and with their childish hands, we have woven a brilliant youth ode.

 

Time flies, and with fearless strokes, they have painted the vitality of life, and together they have woven a splendid youth song. Here, we have witnessed the youthful faces blossoming in the light and shadow, and heard the young soul finding belonging in resonance.

 

Each work is a mark of touching the heart, each frame is a witness of youth growth.

 

Looking forward to the future, we expect young filmmakers from China and Europe to capture the colorful life with the lens, explore the infinite possibilities of images with boldness, cross cultural boundaries, and engage in dialogue with the world using the power of youth original images.

04 Judging Process

 

Judging Process:

 

The 10th China-EU Youth Film Festival in 2024 will undergo three rounds of judging: preliminary, semifinal, and final. After the preliminary and semifinal rounds, the organizing committee will announce the list of selected films on the official WeChat public account, Weibo, Facebook, and other channels of the "China-EU Youth Film Festival". The selected works from young people and high school students from China and EU countries will enter the final judging round, with judges from China and Europe jointly serving on the final judging panel. The list of award winners will be announced after the final round.

 

Special Submission:

 

Works selected by the "Midsummer film Festival" film library can directly enter the semi-final round.

06 Competition Entry Requirements

 

1. Theme of the work :

The theme is not limited and shall not involve content such as pornography, violence, and racial discrimination.

 

2. Participating groups:

(Youth Category) : The main creators must be aged between 18 and 35 years old (at the time of production).

(High School Student Category) : The main creators must be current high school students (at the time of production)

 

3. Participants:

The applicants for the competition should be Chinese (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) and international authors who meet the requirements of the youth and middle school groups. The youth group is not limited to students on campus.

Applicants must be members of the creative team of the entries, and co-authors may jointly sign and participate.

The completion date of the work should be after June 30, 2023.

 

4. Work type:

There is no limit to the types of works, including feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental short films, short videos, vlogs, promotional videos, advertising videos, Al short films, etc.

 

5. Film requirements:

1) H264 encoding, MP4/MOV format.

2) The duration of a single short video work shall not exceed 5 minutes, and the size of the entries shall not exceed 1GB. If using a series of short video works for competition, 1-3 short video works with a total duration not exceeding 10 minutes can be selected.

3) The duration of other types of works shall not exceed

40 minutes, and the file size of the entries shall not exceed 4GB.

 

6. Subtitle requirements:

Entry into the final review must be accompanied by bilingual subtitles in Chinese/ French or Chinese/English.

 

 

07 Submission of Works

 

1) Participantscan click "Read More" below to fill in the registration information.

 

2) Chinese participants can fill out the registration information on the official WeChat public platform "EU-CHNFILM" of the film festival and register as required.

 

3) Participants can contact the organizing committee staff to receive and fill out the registration form, upload the works to a cloud storage service, and then send the download link, registration form, as well as stills, posters, etc., to the official email eucnff@eucnff.com.

 

4) If the above methods are not feasible, please contact the organizing committee staff through the official contact information for registration-related matters.
