On April 25, 2023 Maritime Guang Dong young director support program (hereinafter referred to as "Shanhai Project") was officially launched, and the online registration was opened at home and abroad. Based on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, the campaign is open to the world, recruiting young Chinese directors to participate in the creation of thematic short films, with a maximum support fund of 200,000 yuan for a single work.
The theme of this year's creation focuses on the culture of overseas Chinese in the Greater Bay Area, and hopes to use short films as a carrier to tell the stories of Guangdong people at home and abroad who are connected by the same cultural origin. The competition is open to young film talents and university students from home and abroad. Six young directors will be selected and supported from among the applicants, and the maximum creative support fund will be 200,000 RMB. After the short film is completed, the best director award, the best creative award and the international communication award will be selected.
The short films that receive support and prize money in the "Shanhai Project" will have the opportunity to participate in the short film screening season to be held in September this year. Yangcheng Evening News will join hands with partners in the Greater Bay Area and overseas to create a traveling stage for young directors to screen and exchange their works, helping them to gain their own "first audience" in the dissemination of their works at home and abroad.
