On 22 March 2023, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the League of Arab States, the 2nd China-Arab Short Video Competition was officially launched under the guidance of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China and the Arab States Broadcasting Union, and co-sponsored by China-Arabian Satellite TV in Dubai, Lebanese National Television, and Yemeni Diaspora Television, etc. The theme of the competition is "A Decade of Holding Hands". Under the theme of "Ten Years of Holding Hands", the competition invited the UAE as the guest country, set up individual/small group and institutional groups, UAE-themed units and large country project-themed units, and invited original short video works from young people and groups in China and the Arab countries. The activity has received positive responses and nearly 300 entries have been received so far.

There will be one grand prize, two first prizes, three second prizes, five third prizes and 20 excellence prizes for the individual and small group categories. There are also individual awards: 1 Best Creativity Award, 1 Best Photography Award, 1 Best Editing Award, 1 Best Music Award, 1 Best Visual Effect; 3 Outstanding Team Awards and several Outstanding Organisation Awards.

In the institutional group, there will be 1 grand prize, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 5 third prizes, as well as individual prizes: 1 Best Engineering Design Award, 1 Best Public Welfare and Charity Award, 1 Best Social Contribution Award, 1 Best Overseas Communication Award, and 1 Best Ecological and Environmental Protection Award.

Requirements

The main body of the competition can be an individual or a group. If the competition is held in the name of an individual, the nationality of the participant must be China or an Arab country; if the competition is held in a group, the number of team members shall not exceed 6 in principle. There is no limit to the number of participants from enterprises and institutions.

1. Theme of entries

Focusing on "Sino-Arab friendship", "10th anniversary of the Belt and Road", "Sino-Arab cultural exchanges", "Sino-Arab technological cooperation", "Sino-Arab economic and trade exchanges" and other themes, focusing on culture, tourism, gastronomy, science and technology, economic and trade, "Belt and Road"-related engineering design, construction, cooperation results, etc., covering clothing, food, housing, transport, food, drink and entertainment and other themes;

Chinese authors are required to create works related to Arab countries, and authors from Arab countries are required to create works related to China.

2. Genre of works

There is no limitation on the genre of the works: micro-documentary, interview, talk show, vlog, music video, talent show, animation and cartoon are all acceptable. Talent demonstration focuses on the demonstration of talent related to the theme of Sino-Arab cultural exchanges, including but not limited to poetry recitation in Chinese/Arabic, songs, skits, speeches, dubbing of film and television clips, etc.

3. Technical Requirements

A. Resolution should not be less than 720p, 1080p and above is recommended.

B. The screen is recommended to be horizontal screen 16:9 mode.

C. Duration within 1-10 minutes.

D. The size should not exceed 200M, and the format should be HD MP4, MOV, MPEG4, etc.

E. In order to facilitate the joint selection of judges from different countries, all entries must be subtitled.

F. The audio and sound must be clear and full, with no noise and accurate sound and picture alignment.

Entry Methods

1. Direct Entry

Participants should download and fill in the application form, and send the application form and the video files of their works to cavc@catv.ae by email, Baidu disc link, Filemail download link, Google drive download link and so on.

The subject of the email should be "2ndCAVC + the name of the participant".

All direct submissions will be displayed on the official social media accounts of CAVC (Weibo, Shake, Shutter, B, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Tik Tok, etc.) in the contest area after preliminary review and screening.

2. Self-media account uploading

Upload short video works on any self media platforms, including but not limited to Weibo, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Tiktok, YouTube, etc., and add the topic "#中阿短视频大赛" or "#2ndCAVC" or @China-Arabia TV official account, and @China-Arabia TV official account, and @China-Arabia TV official account, and @中阿卫视官方账号together with three friends will be considered as entries!
