The 2nd Maritime Silk Road Documentary Film Festival will open on March 14, 2025 and end on March 16, 2025, with the opening ceremony to be held on March 14 at the Fujian Radio and Television Grand Theater.
This year's festival will bring together documentary creators, scholars, industry representatives and media organizations from around the world to share the latest creative achievements and industry experience, hold 13 events such as Chinese and Foreign Documentary Market, Master Class, and screen 25 excellent documentaries from China, France, Canada, Japan and other countries.
The festival focuses on “documentary images and cross-cultural dialogues”, and promotes humanistic exchanges and industrial cooperation among countries along the Maritime Silk Road through the international language of documentary films, and builds a global documentary filmmaker community to create, share and develop new ideas. Build a platform for global documentary filmmakers to create and share.
Highlights
1. International Co-Production Project Achievement Release and Contract Signing
The festival will solicit international co-production projects from international festivals, production organizations, internet platforms and provincial TV stations, and more than 20 international co-production projects from China, France, the United States, Japan, Egypt and other countries will be signed or released.
2. Screening and Proposal
Screening and post-screening sharing of 25 world-class documentaries, including Dahomey (Golden Bear, 74th Berlin International Film Festival), Ms. Hu's Garden (Golden Goblet, 26th Shanghai International Film Festival), Made in England (nominated for Best Editing at the British Independent Film Awards), etc., which cover both innovative narratives of the Z-generation and traditional humanistic themes.
The work-in-Progress (WIP) Proposal Session: 10 WIP projects selected by international A-class documentary festivals from Vietnam, Korea, Brazil, New Zealand, Canada and other countries and regions will be presented on-site to accept the test from decision-makers.
3. Master Class
Dutch producer Pieter van Heustie, documentary director Zhang Tongdao and other masters will share their experiences of documentary creation with the audience on the topics of “How Documentary Film Becomes a National Business Card” and “The Imagination of Documentary Film” respectively.
In addition, the festival will also organize the Asian Documentary Roundtable, the International Image Communication Seminar for Enterprises, and the Documentary Creation Seminar.
4. Chinese and Foreign Documentary Market
The market will set up Chinese and Foreign Documentary Pavilions, inviting international festivals and exhibitions, domestic mainstream documentary production and broadcasting organizations, Internet platforms, and domestic and foreign distribution units to promote their productions; encouraging the landing of diversified co-productions, linking up with Chinese and foreign partners, and creating priority distribution in the countries along the “One Belt, One Road”. “Encourage the landing of diversified co-production projects, link up with Chinese and foreign partners, and open up priority distribution channels for countries along the Belt and Road.
